A ‘v’ spread onto the beach sand
A stick ‘r’ was found on beach sand
An ‘f ‘ was found on beach sand too
A ‘Y’ is easy to find in trees
Letters from nature are also found on driveways and streets…
After rain, worms wriggles onto the driveway
Not quite what Cheri spoke of – but fascinating for young children learning letters on their literacy journeys…
Threshold…
Coincidentally, a timely photo challenge: We are on the threshold of experiencing cyclone Ita predicted to cross the far north Queensland coast later today…
High tides and crashing waves at seven this morning.

Getting up early is worth it for the spectacular sunrises and quiet reflections…
sometimes spotting a white vapour trail against the clear, blue skies.
A sunny canoe waits patiently at the dock and
the smooth, wooden paddle is ready to dip into the still, cold water.
A lone canoeist lingers and reflects
on miriad memories of his special place…
whilst on an adjoining lake, a turtle reflects
on his special place and ponders, “What’s for lunch?”

Exploring Beaver Lake one summer,
came across a boat, abandoned,
dilapidated, broken, sad,
and firmly tied to a tree trunk.
What is her story?
Wandering in the woods one spring,
a wooden reindeer appeared
when snow dis-appeared.
Tired, abandoned, shabby with peeling paint,
but almost a smile…
What is his story?
And could it be entitled camouflage rather than abandon?
Walking by farmers’ fields one spring,
stumbled upon rusty, old machinery,
tired, neglected, abandoned…
but symmetry and beauty still evident.
Signs of spring all around:
fresh buds, new leaves, green grass.
Abandoned,
beside land that was swallowed up for housing,
the once-useful machine sits forlornly nearby…
