Weekly Photo Challenge: Treasure

Books, books and more books. These are my treasures…

Hundreds of books.
Thousands of books.
Million and billions and trillions …
as Wanda Gag said of ‘cats’  in Millions of Cats (1928).

A few of my favourite quotes about books…

You cannot open a book without learning something.
Confucius

Miss a meal if you have to, but don’t miss a book.
Jim Rohn

I’m writing a book. I’ve got the page numbers done.
Steven Wright

And finally, see other people’s treasures here…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Let there be light – and literacy…

‘Every moment of light and dark is a miracle’
 says Walt Whitman…

???????????????????????????????

and the spectacular transition
from dark to light never ceases to amaze…

???????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????

and like the owl and the pussy cat
in Edward Lear’s rollicking rhyme,
we can dance ‘by the light of the moon,
the moon, the moon…’

‘Light…’ also reminds me of Ezra Pound’s words:
Man reading should be man intensely alive. The book should be a ball of light in one’s hands.

But that’s another story….
